The small creatures that sprout around it are fragments of those souls — conscious slivers that believe themselves to be individuals, yet share a single thought.
From decay rose a colossal fungus, its roots spreading for miles beneath the forest.
The tiny beings that follow it are its manifested thoughts — wandering eyes seeking contact with what once was humanity.
